Studio Katia December Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone! It’s finally time for a new Studio Katia release, and today we are celebrating with a fun blog hop with lots of possibilities for you to win along the way!

I will give you all the details at the end of this post - for now let’s have a look at today’s card!
It was really hard to pick a stamp set from the new release for this project...they are all so fabulous! In the end I decided to go for the Blooming Bunch set, and to color it using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

I cut my card base out of some Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock using one of the dies in the Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames set. I then stamped the floral image and the sentiment with Versafine ink in Onyx black, and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder. I colored the images with my Zig markers, using miltiple layers to achieve a higher depth of color. The raised edges of the embossed lines help a lot in keeping the pigments confined to the respective areas, and prevent bleeding. For some finishing touches I added some sparkle to the flowers with my Spectrum Noir clear overlay pen and diluted some Distress Ink in Black Soot to add a few black splashes around the card base.

And that finished off my card.
As I mentioned above, this post is part of a blog hop in celebration of the new Studio Katia's release!
You should have arrived here from Olga's blog, and the next stop in the hop is Amanda's blog

To further celebrate the new release Studio Katia is giving away a 50$ gift certificate to two lucky winners!  All the info on how to qualify to win can be found on the Studio Katia blog.
And there's more! You can win a 20$ gift certificate to the Studio Katia Store by leaving a comment on this post! You have time until December 22nd, midnight CET. I will randomly select a winner from all the entries and announce it here on the blog on December 24th. So make sure to check back in case you are the winner, because I will need you to email me within one week from the announcement to claim your prize! The other designers on the hop are also giving away gift certificates, so the more blogs you visit, the greater your chances of winning!

Inlay Die Cutting feat Studio Katia Kobi’s Hugs and Kisses

valentines-die-studio-katia-inlay-die-cut-card-distress-oxides

Hello everyone! It’s Release Preview week over at the Studio Katia blog, and today we are showcasing the super sweet Kobi’s Hugs and Kisses stamp set! I have said many times how much I love this cute character, so I was very excited to create a card using this set!
To begin with, I stamped the images on some Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with my Spectrum Noir markers. I then die cut them with the coordinating dies.

For the background I cut some white cardstock using the frame die in the Dotted Patterned Loops Creative Dies set. I also used the heart die in the Dotted Mini Tags 1 set to cut out some hearts from the main background panel. I blended Distress Oxides in Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspblerry on the die cut hearts and on the frame. I used the same inks to also stamp the envelopes on the background. I the added some sparkle to the ink blended elements and to the heart that Kobi is holding with my Spectrum Noir clear overlay pen.
To finish off the card I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink and adhered everything to my A2 card base. I tucked the die cut hearts in the corresponding negative cuts on my background panel for an inlay die cut look.

And that’s it for today’s post! I really hope you liked this card, and don’t forget to check out the Studio Katia blog for more inspiration with the new Kobi’s Hugs and Kisses stamp set!
I will be back soon with another fun project, and in the meantime I wish you all a great day!

Coffee-Themed Card feat Studio Katia for the Winter 2017 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Studio-Katia-Sweet-Latte-and-Scripted-Coffee-CAS-Card

Hello everyone! Today I am back with a clean and simple card I made for Studio Katia, as part of the Winter 2017 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. Today also marks the beginning of the countdown for the new release (yay!), and because Studio Katia is one of the sponsors for the blog hop, we are featuring the new Sweet Latte stamp set and the Scripted Coffee Creative Die. These products will be available for purchase in the Studio Katia blog starting Friday, December 15th.

For my card today I colored the moka and the coffee cup images from the Sweet Latte stamp using my Spectrum Noir markers. I then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Studio-Katia-Sweet-Latte-and-Scripted-Coffee-CAS-Card-close-up

For the card base I used some Doodlebug patterned paper from the Kraft in Color 6x6” paper pad. I cut the base using the Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames Creative Dies, and I trimmed down a strip of striped patterned paper with my guillotine trimmer. I used the strip ground my images in the card design.
For the sentiment I combined the Sweet Latte set and the Scripted Coffee Creative Die. I die cut the word “Coffee” from some brown card stock, and stamped the “but first” sentiment using Memento Dew Drops in Toffee Crunch.
For a  finishing touch I added some Nuvo Drops in Dark Walnut.

Holiday 2017 Cardmaking Series - Sweet Scene Card feat MFT Our Story

MFT-Our-Story-Christmas-Card

Hello everyone! Today I am back with another card and video for my Holiday 2017 Card Making Series on YouTube. For this sweet card I decided to combine the MFT Our Story, Happy Pawlidays and Santa’s Elves stamp sets.
As a first step, I stamped my images on some Neenah Solar White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I colored them in with my Spectrum Noir markers. I cut them all out using the coordinating dies or my Cutterbee scissor, depending on whether I actually had the cooridating dies themselves. For the background of my scene I did some ink blending with Distress Oxide in Fossilized Amber on some Canson XL watercolor cardstock. To cut the panel to a standard A2 size I used a die from the Studio Katia Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames set. I added some water droplets and dabbed off the excess with a paper towel.
For the floor I used one of the papers in the Lawn Fawn knock on wood 6x6” paper pad.
I glued all the elements in place with some liquid glue, and I then stamped the sentiment, from the Our Story stamp set, using Versafine Onyx Black ink.
For a finishing touch I added some glitter with a Spectrum Noir clear overlay pen, and some Nuvo Drops in clear glitter around the sentiment.

MFT-Our-Story-Christmas-Card

To finish off the inside of my card I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the MFT Merry Christmas Greetings stamp set with Memento ink in Love Letter. I also initially stamped the pile of presents that I also have on the card front with the same red ink, but I ended up changing my mind. So I stamped it again on some Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo black ink, colored it with the same colors I used for the card front, and adhered it on top of the stamped image on the inside of my card.

If you want a more in-depth look at how I made this card, you can watch the video below. And don’t forget to let me know what you think about it!

And that’s it for today! I really hope you liked this card and enjoyed the video! I will be back soon with another fun project , and in the meantime I wish you all a great day!

Handmade Christmas Ornament feat CC Designs Reindeer Games - Christmas Gift Idea

DIY-Christmas-Ornament-CC-Desings-Reindeer-Games-Close-Up

Hello everyone! Today I am back with some inspiration for a cute handmade Christmas gift. I created this adorable ornament using some acrylic baubles and one of the images in the C.C. Designs Reindeer Games digital stamp set. I have really been enjoying C.C. Designs stamps lately, so get ready to see more in the near future!

As a first step I printed the image on some Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock. I also printed a second, mirrored version, because this ornament is actually double sided. This way no matter how the recipient hangs it, they still will be able to see the scene. I used my Silhouette Portrait to cut both images, and I colored them with my Spectrum Noir markers. I added a few details with my white gel pen and some glitter with my Spectrum Noir clear overlay pen.

I then moved on and started working on the backgrounds. I cut two circles out of Canson XL watercolor cardstock using a die by Tonic Studios. I tried to find the die that best matches the diameter of the baubles I used (10 cm). For each of the two die cut circles I proceeded as follows. I created the snowfall by heat embossing the background stamp in the Lawn Fawn Snowy Backdrops set. I used Nuvo Shimmering Pearl embossing powder, as it has glitter in it. I then did some ink blending using Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire. I put my two sky panels aside to dry.
I then created two snowbanks out of white cardstock. I die cut the shapes by combining a stitched hillside die by Craftin Desert Divas with the same circle die from Tonic Studios that I had used for the sky panels. I added some shading with Distress Ink in Salty Ocean and lots of glitter using my Spectrum Noir clear overlay pen. I then assembled each scene by gluing the several elements together.

At this point I could start working on putting the ornament together. I laid the two circular panels with my winter scene face down on my desk, and I ran some nylon thread along the back of one of them. I secured it with some tape, and made sure to leave some thread hanging off the top and bottom of my circles (Fig 1). I went ahead and glued the circles together, back to back.

Fig. 1

The baubles I used come in two separate pieces that can be put together. You can see an example over here
Because my die cut circle was a bit smaller than the bauble itself, in order to adhere it to the ornament I proceeded as follows.
I lay the die cut circle (i.e. the two scenes I had just glued together) on my desk, and added a generous amount of Multi Medium Matte by Ranger to its lower edge. I layed one half of the acrylic bauble on top of it, with the open side down. I made sure that the bottom of the bauble would touch the bottom of the die cut circle, where the glue was (Fig 2). I left everything to dry overnight.

Christmas-ornament-assembly-step-2
Fig. 2

The morning after I secured the die cut circle to the top of the bauble. I pulled the nylon thread so that it was nice and straight, and glued it to the top of the bauble with Multi Medium Matte (Fig 3). Once the glue was dry I assembled the ornament by fitting the two half-spheres together.

As a final step I threaded some ribbon through the eyelet of my ornament. And here's a close up picture: if you look carefully you will be able to see the nylon thread connecting the acrylic bauble to the die cut scene.

Holiday 2017 Card Making Series - White Embossing + Vellum on kraft feat Studio Katia Merry Poinsettia

christmas-card-and-tags-kraft-studio-katia-merry-poinsettias

Hello everyone! Today I am back with an elegant Christmas card and a set of coordinating tags I made with products by Studio Katia. I really love using kraft cardstock for Christmas cards, and the white embossed vellum adds and ever more classy look to this card! I have to say I am really pleased with the result!
I first heat embossed some of the images in the Studio Katia Merry Poinsettia stamp set on some Canson XL watercolor cardstock as well as on vellum. I then die cut everything with the coordinating dies.
For my card base I used two of the dies in the Studio Katia Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames set to cut some Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. To convey the feel of falling snow, I added some splashes to the background using white acrylic paint. I then heat embossed the sentiment on the front panel and popped it up on some fun foam. For a finishing touch I used some white crystals by Studio Katia around the sentiment.

And because I liked this card so much, I decided to create some coordinating tags. They are quick and easy to make, but I think they are the perfect complement to the card!
I die cut the tags out of some Neenah Desert Storm cardstock and I added some splashes  with white acrylic paint. I heat embossed two flowers from the Merry Poinsettia stamp set on some vellum and glued one on each tag. I die cut the word "joy" using one of the coordinating dies to the Merry Poinsettias stamp set. For the dot on the letter "j" I used the same white crystals I added on the card. And to add a touch of red to the tags as well, I threaded some red embroidery floss through the tags' eyelets.
With this card I participate the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

I also recorded and uploaded a video tutorial on how to make this Christmas card and tags set, you can watch it down below. And don't forget to let me know what you think about it!

And that's it for today! I really hope you liked this project and enjoyed the video! Right now I am really busy making Christmas cards for my friends and family, I really hope I will manage to squeeze in a few more videos before Christmas :) But in the meantime you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook to see the cards I am working on - I decided I will be sharing them on my social media profiles, in case you are looking for inspiration for some quick Christmas cards! I hope to see you guys there, and I wish you all a great day!

Christmas Window Card feat Studio Katia Winter Kobi

studio-katia-winter-kobi-window-card

Hello everyone! Today I am back on the Studio Katia blog with a clean window card I made with the Winter Kobi and the Origami Winter stamp sets. I really think this little character is adorable, and I was super happy to see him in a winter outfit ;)
To start off my card I stamped the Kobi image on some Canson XL watercolor cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I colored it with Derwent Inktense pencils, and die cut it with the coordinating dies.
I then cut my card base and the window front from some more watercolor cardstock, using the Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames and the Creative Stitched Window die sets.

studio-katia-winter-kobi-christmas-cars

For the inside of the window I created a masked scene. I colored the trees with Inktense Pencils and embossed the snowflakes with white embossing powder. I then did some ink blending on the sky and the snow hill using Distress Inks ink in Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass. I coated the back of the window with acetate and used several layers of cardstock to give it dimension.
I stamped the sentiment from the Origami Winter stamp set using Memento ink in London Fog, and added a ribbon to the top of the window. I die cut it using the Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames Creative Dies set and colored with Derwent Inktense pencils.
